Mimurotoji Hydrangea Garden

Hello everyone.

This is midopa, the online staff.

It's the humid rainy season in no time☔️

It's the rainy season that people tend to hesitate to go out, but this time of year,
I will introduce the "hydrangea garden" of Mimurotoji Temple in Uji.

Enjoy "hydrangea" at Mimurotoji Temple in June

June is the season of hydrangeas.

It reminds me of a long time ago when a big hydrangea was blooming in my grandparents house 😌.

However, Mimurotoji's "hydrangea garden" is completely different from the scale of the garden...!

In Yorakuen, a vast garden of about 5,000 tsubo, about 20,000 hydrangeas cover the roots of tall cedar trees, creating a spectacular sight.

You can see about 50 kinds of hydrangeas at once, such as Western hydrangeas and oak leaf hydrangeas, and the light blue to vivid pink that is unique to hydrangea spreads all over.

You can also see a type called "Shichidanka", which is also called a phantom hydrangea.

The seven-tiered flower (shichidanka) looks like a star because the sharp "sepals" of the flower overlap.

(By the way, the petal-like part of the hydrangea is the sepal, and the petal is the small part in the center.)

And at Mimurotoji Temple, the heart-shaped hydrangea is a hot topic every year.

Among many hydrangeas, I found a heart-shaped flower.

When you visit Uji, please visit Mimurotoji Temple as well😊
