青紅葉と蓮を楽しむ東本願寺 渉成園 枳殻邸

Higashi Honganji Temple where you can enjoy the blue autumn leaves and lotuses Shoseien Kikokutei

Hello everyone.

The summer vacation season is finally upon us, and many people come to visit Kyoto.

Today I would like to tell you about the Higashi Honganji Shoseien Kikokutei that I visited in 2021.

Higashi Honganji Temple Shoseien Kikokutei

10 minutes walk from Kyoto Station.
I went to Shoseien Kikokutei.

Shoseien became an enclave precinct (villa) of Higashi Honganji Temple,

This garden is located on the east side of Higashi Honganji Temple.

When you enter the park, there is a tall stone wall right next to you.

While stones of various materials and shapes are combined,

We also found a stone mill!

It's rare.

I wanted to know the scene of the time when the stone walls were built.

The grounds of the garden are very large and you can relax and explore.

The park occupies one - sixth of the area

There is a large pond called Ingetsuchi.

This pond is said to be beautiful because the moonlight rising from Higashiyama is reflected on the water surface.

It is said that it was named ``Ingetsuchi''.

The reflection of Kyoto Tower on the water on a sunny day is also beautiful.

Ingetsu Pond reflecting the shadow of the moon also has a beautiful atmosphere ☺️🌕

In a shape that extends over the water of Ingetsu Pond,

A quiet tea room called Sochinkyo.

(*Currently, it is fenced off due to restoration work.)

Flowers are blooming here and there along the banks of the pond.

You can enjoy the scenery in each season.

At the end, there was a large lotus that was as tall as a person.

Lotus flowers are in full bloom in the morning,

Apparently it closes in the afternoon.

On this day, a large lotus flower saw us off.

(*This clear bottle is sold out)

It was very hot that day, so hydration was a must.

At the end of the tour, I took a break at a rest area near the reception 🍵

Put a cold brew sencha tea bag in a bottle and have tea time✨

Because it is blended specifically for cold brewing,

Even in hot weather, you can enjoy delicious tea without hot water.

Everyone, please come and spend some relaxing time at Kikokutei.
